2023 WINTER REGISTRATION

Macquarie Dragons try very hard to keep player registration fees as low and affordable as possible.

We are a community club run entirely by volunteers and our primary objective is to facilitate players of all ages and abilities in an enjoyable, supportive environment. It is not to make money off our members.

Season 2020 and 2021 were severely affected by Covid and to compensate all players in NWSF, the Association passed down discounts to all clubs for 2022 registration fees.

Some clubs chose not to pass these discounts onto their members. We did pass them on, we value our members.

This has resulted in the 2023 registration fees seemingly jumping up compared to last season as the fees charged by the Association, FNSW, insurance etc have increased sharply.

In setting fees for this season we were very mindful of setting fees that were affordable to players and families as possible.

In some age groups the club will actually be running at a loss.

We would appreciate your understanding and acknowledgment of this information. If you have queries or would like further clarification regarding fees please don’t hesitate to treasurer@macquariedragons.com.au

2. Before Registration

This year players are encouraged to register before the Early Bird cut off to ensure you secure a place in a team. Early Bird discounts are available for all ages throughout the entire club. Early Bird discount will end on 10th Feb. Please see registration table below.

All our u6 players are FREE if you register before the Early Bird cut off & apply your Active Kids Voucher to your registration.

Before registering you should have your:

a) FFA number - if you do not have an FFA number you will need to apply for one via Play Football by creating an account

b) An electronic copy of a recent passport sized photograph (head & shoulders) photo cannot be more than 3 years old

c) WWCC (Working With Children Check) details if applicable & if you are volunteering in the club

d) Active Kids Voucher number if applicable

e) Credit/Debit card for payment - no cash payments are accepted

Users are reporting some confusion about the way fees are advertised at the start. The system will calculate the correct fee at the end with or without the allocated Early Bird discount.

3. Registration:

It is a requirement of Football Federation Australia that all players must be registered through Play Football.

Mixed (boys & girls teams) and All Age Men play on Saturdays while Girls & Women's teams play on Sundays.

Players under the age of 18 will usually play in an age group that corresponds to the age they turn when registering.

Eg: if your child is turning 10 in 2023 then they will play in the u10 competition.

Every effort will be made to accommodate your request. The final allocation will depend on registration numbers.

Grading guidance:

For Minis & Juniors there is no individual grading of players for mini-roos at Macquarie Dragons unless the club decides to field a “Division 1” team. If the club decides to hold grading days players will be evenly matched & placed into a graded team. Grading is not compulsory.

Competitive success is recognised as a valid motivator for individual players and teams to varying degrees. However, the Club believes that placing players in a team and grade appropriate to their skill level plays a significant role in forming our teams. The club aims to promote and balance these objectives & our club process of individual player grading and overall team formation.

Information about grading can be found in this document

From here, once all registrations are finalised all players will be notified of the Dragons meet days/trials held in March.
