About the Event

At Dragons, we recognise that Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) continues to be one of the leading causes of death in Australia and that defibrillators have the power to change this and save lives. We have worked with the Michael Hughes Foundation to fund defibrillators at our three home grounds: Waterloo, Marsfield and Fontenoy (to be installed in April 2021). Having a defibrillator means you can step in with the tools to save a life before paramedics arrive – every minute counts.

With the support of the Michael Hughes Foundation, we will be running a defibrillator training session which provides important information on how to respond to a cardiac emergency including:

  • Recognition of cardiac arrest;
  • Calling 000;
  • The role of and current requirements of CPR;
  • The role of, use and maintenance of a defibrillator;
  • Real life examples of cardiac arrest events

If a person experiences a cardiac arrest, their chance of survival is drastically increased if a bystander is able to recognise and respond to the incident. We want to ensure that all our players, officials and spectators are safe which is why we strongly encourage that at least one representative from every team attend this training.

The trainingwill take place at the Ranch on the Tuesday the 13th of April. Please register by completing the Jotform here.
